On September 11th 2010 Open Czech Championship in kayak freestyle will be held in Pilsen. The artificial playspot Kalikovák is situated in the middle of the city, (map here.) The spot will be open for training from Wed 8th. Starting fee is 16 euros. You can register on the official CNAWR web and get a discount. Camping on the nearby parking space is free and tolerated. Hi!
Is it possible to come there earlier?like monday/tuesday to stay and train? is it at kayak channel so i need to pay or what? Please some info : )

You can come earlier, the thing is the spot is not working all the time (the water mill is loosing power when we raise the obstacle). Riding is for free, but someone of us need to open it for you, we have a schedule on our web page when we ride. Usually weekdays it's only working afternoons (we are working you know) form 17:00 til everybody is tired (like19:00 or more).
Next week the schedule is like this:
Monday - 8:00-16:00 fire department training - the spot is closed, 17:00 - 19:00 playspot open
Tuesday - 17:00 -19:00 playspot open
Wednesday - 17:00-19:00 playspot open
Thursday - 11:00 - 19:00 playspot open
Friday - 11:00 - 22:00 playspot open - there will be artificial light
If you want ride outside these hours, send email to playspot[at]vodacitjunion[dot]cz , specify the time and we will try to arange someone to open it for you.
The calendar called Provoz playspotu on the left side of www.vodacitjunion.cz shows the opening hours, if there is a green dot on the day the playspot will surely be working.

Poslední dva válce potřebují ke své aktivitě nižší (letní) stav, takže na jaře, na podzim a po velkých deštích je asi nenajdete. Při usilovnějším jarním tání se občas pod vodou ztratí i "tlama" a občas i "véčko". A když se v zimě hodně přemnoží sníh a na jaře pak rychle roztaje, voda nabyde tolik, že jsou zdejší vodohospodáři nuceni sklopit lopatky jezu, a to se pak krom pár prvních vracáků zarovná kanál kompletně. Namísto toho se vedle na místě jezu vytvoří krásná velká vlna, která je však občas až příliš velká - záleží na vodě a sklopení jezu - ale to většinou stejně nevydrží moc dlouho. Krom těchto extrémních případů se vlastnosti jednotlivých vln a válců mění (různě a nepravidelně) i s menšími změnami vodního stavu a uvedený popis míst odpovídá takovému normálnímu stavu vody v létě.MB3-451
